Sound Baths in Columbus, OH

Using sound waves to reduce pain and help reset your nervous system by means of live Crystal Bowls, Tuning Forks, and the Human Voice!

Sound Baths in Columbus.

Sound baths are a public monthly form of Sound Therapy that we offer in our pain clinic. Participants may not like healing methods of physical touch by hand, prescriptions, or talking, but may like the healing effects of sound vibrations. This approach uses the live sound waves that are produced by our sound therapy practitioner to create a calm yet unpredictable atmosphere that will regulate the nervous system and allow the body to recognize that it can be okay with new stimuli without needing to be sent into fight, flight, or freeze mode.

Sound baths are for people who:

  • Are chronic pain patients

  • Experience back & neck pain

  • Experience anxiety

  • Have sports injuries & overuse syndromes

  • Experience depression

  • Struggle with sleep hardship

  • Are grieving

  • Seek relaxation

  • Want to reduce fatigue

Not sure if Sound Baths are right for you? We encourage you to call our Columbus office at (614) 594-2400 to speak with our team regarding any questions or concerns.

What is a Sound Bath?

A 60-minute group nervous system regulation session, feeling vibrations from specific instruments, objects, and even human breathing and singing to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, soften fascial restrictions, and guide the body back into self-healing.

Similar to Vibrational Sound Therapy, Sound Baths train patients’ bodies to exit fight, flight, or freeze so the body can heal itself. The practice can restore movement, relieve spasms, reduce pain, and allow the mind to rest, breaking pain cycles. Sound Baths are group sessions where patients will bring a pillow and blanket to relax with, or a chair to sit in, and allow the soundwaves to bathe them, healing them at the cellular level.

Sound Baths can be requested for private events.

Expectations For Your First Sound Bath:

Every session at Starr MFR is different! Here's what a session looks like:

Find a spot: Your sound practitioner will help you set up a comfortable place for you to receive sound frequencies.

Meditation of intention: Before the sound practitioner starts the sound bath, they will prepare an intention for the participants to focus on while they receive sound frequencies.

The Sound practitioner will introduce instrumentation/vocalizations: The only expectation here is to receive the sound waves that come over and through the body, some may experience emotions, some may fall asleep, and some may daydream. All of these things and more are okay.

Silence: Once the 60-minute session is over, the sound practitioner will allow a period of silence for the bodies to settle and give thanks to the participants for taking the time to care for themselves that evening. This is also the exit period where the participants may take time to reflect, talk with the practitioner, and/or exit.
