Owner and Physical Therapist
Dr. Charles Starr didn’t begin his career as a Myofascial Release expert. In fact, his path toward healing was anything but linear. His twenties and thirties were spent crisscrossing the country, following opportunities that shaped both his curiosity and his character. He first landed in New York City to study acting, where yoga was woven into his curriculum. What started as a requirement quickly became a grounding practice, something that stayed with him long after he left the stage lights behind.
From New York, Starr moved to Los Angeles, chasing the dream of an acting career while working full-time and deepening his yoga practice on the side. But in 2001, he felt the pull of home. He returned to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to family; closer to his roots. He earned his yoga teaching certification and taught part-time, balancing the studio with a full-time job for what would be the next seven years. Still, something tugged at him. Yoga brought people peace, clarity, and strength, but Starr sensed there was more he wanted to offer, that there was more he could help people uncover within their own bodies.
At the age of 44, he made a bold decision: to return to school. In 2011, he earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University, stepping fully into a vocation grounded in science, service, and compassion.
Eight years later in 2019, he opened his first physical therapy clinic with a mission that was as simple as it was ambitious: to help people live fuller, happier lives with less pain. As a traditional functional physical therapist, he guided many patients to improved mobility and, for some, complete relief. Yet a particular group lingered in his mind: those whose pain didn’t match their scans, whose symptoms persisted even when everything “looked fine.” Starr knew their suffering was real, and he felt increasingly certain that something crucial was being missed.
Then came the turning point. After attending his first John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® seminar, everything clicked. It wasn’t a dramatic shift, it was more like a natural alignment. All of his years of yoga, therapeutic training, and instinctive belief in the body’s interconnectedness all converged. Myofascial Release wasn’t just another technique; it was the missing piece.
As he began integrating it into his work, the results were undeniable. Session by session, patients experienced breakthroughs that went far beyond what he’d seen before; shifts that were physical, emotional, sometimes even spiritually transformative. Those moments reaffirmed what Starr had always suspected: true healing is a whole-body, whole-person experience.

CRM & Director of Marketing
Megan found Dr. Starr as a patient in 2024 after having a major facial surgery that replaced her left jaw joint. After not being pointed in any direction for any post-surgical care by her primary care doctor or her surgeon, she found a lesser-known treatment (Myofascial Release Therapy) within patient Facebook groups that would help with post surgical pain, scarring, as well as treatment to ensure successful and strong settlement of the new joint. She met Dr. Starr, a specialist in the treatment she seeked to get, experienced the treatment, and was been so impressed with it and the level of commitment to his patients. Dr. Starr offered a position to her to join his team and she couldn’t wait to help spread the word on this kind of therapy!
